This Ortho-Bionomy class is a perfect first class, increases skills with the basic techniques and creates a bridge to advanced levels of this work. It is also very fun.
Ortho-Bionomy is a gentle yet deeply effective form of bodywork. It has its roots in Osteopathy and Martial Arts. Simple, elegant, powerful and respectful, this work provides a tool to help unlock tension, improve function, dissolve pain and restore well-being. It mixes beautifully with other forms of bodywork. It helps save a Massage Therapists hands from strain while providing a noninvasive tool to work very deeply.
In this class students will learn the history and fundamental principles of Ortho-Bionomy. Students will learn and practice techniques for the whole body. The underlying principles of going with the body toward comfort and ease and away from pain guide the work in this class. We will explore patterns of movement and exaggerate the body’s natural positioning to facilitate self-correction. Students will learn techniques which increase palpation and sensing skills. Participants will explore the intricate patterns of muscles and joints. This class is less technical then the Spine or Extremities classes. It is freer and deepens the participant’s skill in listening and creatively following, almost dancing with their client. Tools taught in the class are effective techniques on their own and also enhance a practitioner’s skill with the basic techniques.
Join accomplished instructor, Cynthia Wood for this practical hands-on course! Participants need tables, linen, and lubrication. If you are flying in for the course, do not worry about a table!
“Would you show water how to run down a hill? It knows how, it only has to be set free. The body of man is the same; it knows; so who are we in our practiced intellect to teach it? It is better it teaches us and we observe the events that follow on.”
